Robert Morrison, personal website.
This was my first venture into website design using the free webspace I got with Demon Internet and like most people
made a personal home page.
As I have learnt new html, css and javascript I have use this site as a test bed for new design techniques.
I still add to this site regularly and keep it updated. Maintenance is an important part of websites and often is
neglected leaving pages out of date, with broken links and 'under construction' pages that don't reflect very well on
either the owner, designer or maintainer.
Knollands Product Supplies Ltd, special offers page.
I designed these pages to give Knollands a couple of pages that could easily be changed. Their main website is maintained
outwith the company so using the free webspace that came with broadband we put together this add on site.
I kept the pages simple so changes could be made without very much work. I also tried to make the pages look similar
to the main website so users were unaware of the change to a different web location. Navigation back to the main site was
also important.
Tim Shepherd, gallery website.
Tim is an artist friend of mine who wanted a website but was put off by the cost and the technology involved. I worked with
him to produce this site that shows off his very detailed work. Background colour was important here so we tried various
colours before settling on a dark grey. There was a lot of image manipulation involved to get the images the right size and
best placed with respect to one another.
Again ease of maintenance is important as new pictures will be added as he produces them and of cause sold ones removed.
Black and White Key Security, business website.
They wanted a new website to advertise their security services so I constructed this site for them using their old site menu
images for the initial page so the new site would have something of the old. Subsequent page text link navigation frees up
space for images and the text.
The pages are laid out using tables which, for me, makes adding new text or images easy.
I used a background check pattern taken from their company logo to add a sense of corporate identity to each page.
Philip D Hawkins, gallery website.
Phil new exactly what he wanted his website to look like as he had put in a lot of thought into it. The colour scheme and image
positions were all worked out by him.
I have used CSS positioning which gives me total control of the placement of the various elements of the page.
Again image manipulation figured highly in the constuction of the site particullary the gallery pages which needed anti-copying
protection.
